Confirm your voter registration status before every election.

Before every election, confirm you are “active” at  Dallas County Voter Look Up https://www.dallascountyvotes.org/voters/registration/status/#VoterEligibilitySearch. If you aren’t, submit any changes/corrections at least 30 days prior to Election Day so that you will be allowed to vote in the upcoming election.  See specific deadlines for the next election at Election Dates and Checklist.

  • If you aren’t listed as active, you are not registered.
  • You can make name and address corrections here: https://txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/sos/SOSACManager
  • If Dallas County does not list you but think you are registered in Texas,  check VoteTexas.gov https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do . If you are active in a different county than the one where you now live, you must fill a new Voter Registration Application, check the “change” box, and then mail it to the County Elections office,
  • You can register to vote anytime, but at least 30 days prior to the day of the election in which you wish to vote.

How to make changes/corrections

If you think you are registered to vote somewhere in Texas, but not sure in which county, check Vote Texas.gov or https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do and then www.dallascountyvotes.org/voters/registration.

If you are not sure where or if you are registered, check https://register2vote.org . You may start your registration at Register2Vote, but will you still need to sign and submit the paper application created by Register2Vote. Find more at www.dallascountyvotes.org/voters/registration

Name has Changed

Update your voter registration online at Voter Name or Address Change  txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/sos/SOSACManager. Name changes are allowed to be done completely online.

Moved within Dallas County

Update your voter registration online at Voter Name or Address Change  txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/sos/SOSACManager. Address changes within the same county are allowed to be done completely online.

Moved into Dallas County

If you have moved into Dallas County from another Texas county or out-of-state, you have two options:

  • Complete a new Voter Registration Application and mail it to Dallas County Elections. See Voter Registration
  • If you have your Texas Voter Registration Certificate Card (blue postcard mailed January 2022), correct your address on the back and mail it to the Dallas County Elections Department.

Did not receive Voter Registration Certificate Card

If you did not receive your voter certificate card (blue postcard) at your current residence in January of 2022, then your registration might be suspended. New voter registration certificates are mailed in January of even years to the address on file. They are not allowed to be forwarded.

Why do I need to confirm?

Texas purges registrations of voters who don’t vote often. When counties learn that you filed a change of address with the US Post Office, they are required to suspend your voter registration, rather than updated it with your new address.
