Description:
Help our members track the City of Dallas Council meetings.
Ways You Can Help:
1. Follow Dallas Documenters for on-the-ground insights and meeting notes: Dallas Free Press Meeting Briefs https://dallasfreepress.com/public-meeting-briefs/
2. Monitor news sources for City of Dallas coverage.
3. Watch Council meetings and commission meetings to track discussions on issues. Meetings are typically the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. You can confirm the meeting dates here: https://citysecretary2.dallascityhall.com/pdf/council_calendar.pdf. Videostream is accessible at http://bit.ly/3WKHMUh
Lastly, provide a very brief summary or highlight about the meeting. Or let Diane know if the Dallas Documenter report is sufficient. We hope your efforts will give the LWVD Board advance notice of when the League should advocate for an issue to the Trustees. The advocacy is done by the President - not the Observer.
Once you sign up, Diane Tasian will receive an automatic email and follow up with you.
Thank you for helping us stay informed and advocate for our community!

Vote411 Candidate Wrangler for the next election
Elizabeth will provide you with a Google doc spreadsheet with contact information for the candidates.
Candidates will have been sent a link to Vote411 to enter their answers (some will also load their own Spanish translations). Please be available to the candidates to answer any questions.
A team of 5 will make this go very quickly. There is a time-slot for each day of the period this will take place. The time is only a suggestion - you can choose when to work on this. Selecting time slots will help Elizabeth know which days you are available.

Description:
Please help us increase our candidate participation by providing information and encouragement. A list of candidates and script will be provided. The last day to file for the 2026 May Joint local elections was February 13. During the two weeks after that, another Vote411 team will be assembling the list of candidates. The candidates will be invited to participate in Vote411 on Saturday, March 7.
You can work on this anytime between Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 23. Time slots for each day are provided so Elizabeth can see when you are available and can communicate with you.
We believe a team of 5 volunteers will make quick work of this task. We apologize that the Volunteer Opportunity says that so many volunteers are needed. The system simply multiplies every day by the number of volunteers needed.
Your resources:
• Elizabeth Walley, ewalley1@gmailcom.
• If you need help with anything Spanish, we will find someone from that team.
• You will receive a link to the Master list, a Wrangler Handbook which has scripts for email and phone, and the timeline.

Description:
Help us verify and improve candidate photos in the Vote411 system. Often candidate submit bad photos. Some don’t seem to know what a head shot is, too dark, not centered. Or they don’t submit a photo because they don’t know how. It’s pretty easy to make the photos better or find and add good photos, but it takes some time.

Description:
Help us whittle down the text for the first draft of the Voters Guide. Elizabeth downloads the document into Word. There’s a whole lot of redundancy (duplication) in the download. The task is to strip out the redundancy. The doc might start with 200 pages. It gets shrunk down to half. Then the designer shrinks it to the size that is published.
