How to Map Communities of Interest
The League of Women Voters Texas is a leader in the statewide redistricting coalition Fair Maps Texas. For redistricting to be as fair as possible, there needs to be input from many individuals and communities.
This year, Fair Maps Texas will collect Community of Interest maps in Districtr, a public web tool for redistricting and community identification. Communities of Interest can be thought of as the smallest building block of a district. It is defined as a contiguous population which shares common social and economic interests that should be included within a single district for fair and effective representation.
