LWVD Gerrymander/Census section of Advocacy Committee

Gerrymandering ● Redistricting ● Census.  Discover numerous bills that have been introduced in the Texas House and Senate, where House and Senate Redistricting Committee members stand on the issue, legal opinions, what litigation we can expect, and how LWV’s has been and will continue to be involved.  Join us to learn, and, offer your input.

This Committee’s goals:

• To prepare content for LWVD website
• To provide information for the members who will be visiting with Texas state legislators
• To keep members updated on Texas redistricting and the US Census   

What we will accomplish during this meeting:

• Introduction of all meeting attendees (5 minutes)

• Open discussion about Texas redistricting and the US Census.  Input from all attendees, including Diane and Robin, is encouraged (25 minutes).
• Update from Project Team Leaders (15 minutes):  Dorothy Mundy (Bills Filed in Texas House and Senate); Ashley Washington (Elected Officials’ Positions); Lynn Dickinson (Legal Opinions); and Eileen Rosenblum (Anticipated Litigation).  Joan: Update on Senate Redistricting Committee Testimonies; LWV Lobby Days
• What our Project Teams hope to accomplish before our next meeting (10 minutes): Dorothy Mundy; Lynn Dickinson; Eileen Rosenblum; Ashley Washington;  Joan, Diane and Robin. 
• Solicitation for volunteers to help on our Project Teams (3 minutes)
