Help Our Advocacy Co-Chairs Track the City of Dallas Budget—With a Focus on ARPA Funds!

The City of Dallas is currently reviewing its budget, including decisions on how to allocate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. We need a dedicated team to help track key budget issues, ensuring that we stay informed and ready to advocate effectively. If you're interested in joining this effort, please sign up—any information you can gather will be invaluable!

Ways You Can Help:

2. Monitor news sources for budget-related coverage.

3. Watch city council and community meetings to track discussions on funding priorities.

4. Identify budget committee members and check if their meetings comply with the Open Meetings Act.

5. Track key deadlines and meetings for the budget committee and City Council, especially opportunities for community input.

Please help us Support the Distribution volunteers as they gather their bundles.

We need:

• 4 to 5 people to help pull bundles of Voter’s Guides and bookmarks as the distribution volunteers select the drop-offs they want to do and help the distribution volunteers load their cars
• 1 to 2 people to help the team at the check-out table verify the cover sheets and material being given to the Delivery volunteers are accurate..

When and where we need your help:

• on April 7 and 8 at Dallas Public Library, Oak Lawn Branch, 4100 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas 75219

Sign up:

• Registering for a time slot gives us a way to communicate with you.  
• The time slots will also help us ensure enough volunteer support when distribution volunteers come pick up their batches.
• We believe a team of 7 people will make this process go smoothly. I apologize for the clunky volunteer opportunities - they make it look like many more people are needed. The number of volunteers needed that you see on the first page is based on system math of the number of team members multiplied by the number of days.

Calling all volunteers to deliver Voters Guides and bookmarks across Dallas County.  Our Voters Guide survey team is working to verify over 100 drop-off locations! 

Sign up:

• Registering for a time slot gives us a way to communicate with you.

• We believe a team of 3 people for 4 quadrants (12) people will make this process go smoothly. I apologize for the clunky volunteer opportunities - they make it look like many more people are needed. The number of volunteers needed that you see on the first page is based on system math of the number of team members multiplied by the number of days.

Pick up your bundle(s):

• April 7 and 8, at the Oak Lawn Branch of the Dallas Public Library, 4100 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas 75219.
• After April 8, bundle pick-up will be by appointment at the office at 6060 N Central Expressway.  Please call/text Diane Tasian, 214 850-7054, or email diane@thetasians.com to arrange a time to meet at our office. 

Check out process:

• When you come to pick up guides and bookmarks, the cover sheets for the bundle drop-off locations will be sorted into 8 sectors. You will be able to select your delivery area(s) by sector. Cover sheets for each bundle will include the drop-off address and any contact info we have. 
• You will hand your selection to volunteers who are pulling the bundles together. Support volunteers will gather your selections, direct you to the check-out table, where your cover sheet(s) and the bundles are verified, and help you load everything into your vehicle. 

Deliveries:

• You choose when to make your deliveries. 
• We are hoping to complete deliveries by Wednesday, April 14, so voters have timely information. Many Ballot by Mail voters will have already received their ballots.

VDRs needed to register and educate voters at the Outdoor Adventure on Campus Event at Richland College. Meet in the Student Life office in the El Paso hall. Remember all VDR certifications expired at the end of 2024 and need to be renewed.
