League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) v. Abbott

05.04.22: Texas House of Representatives Ryan Guillen, Brooks Landgraf, and John Lujan filed a motion to quash deposition subpoenas arguing that they are protected by legislative privilege.

05.18.22: The District Court denied the motion. The legislators filed an emergency application with the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals to stay the proceedings until the motion to quash could be litigated. 

05.20.22: The 5th Circuit denied the motion. The legislators filed an emergency application in the U.S. Supreme Court. Responses to the application were due on Monday, May 23.

Gutierrez v. Abbott 

 

No action since April 28, 2022 when the Court stayed the proceedings and ordered the parties to file a joint status report once they determined the impact of related state court litigation (MALC - State), but no later than June 2, 2022, and quarterly thereafter until the stay is lifted.
