The League of Women Voters of Texas encourages members to respond to attempts by Texas legislators to preemptively block local governments from acting on behalf of their citizens and residents. Members can call or write to legislators, write letters to the editor of local newspapers, and discuss the issue of preempting local control with friends and family members. Here are some documents that can provide understanding about what the Legislature is attempting to do as well as ideas for countering those attempts:
