LWVD Community Update
February 17th, 2026

From the Desk
It’s been a while since I wrote an article, but we have been busy. Getting our Dallas County Voters Guides the Corrections to that Guide, and the Spanish Voters Guides from the state out to libraries, churches, and organizations have kept us on the run. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the distribution. Early voting begins today, Tuesday, the 17th, and ends on Friday, the 27th. If at all possible, – Vote Early. You can vote at any County-wide Voter Center during Early Voting. Download our Dallas County Voters Guides and read about using Vote411.org available here.

The Primary Elections are run by the two major parties, and on Election Day, March 3, they decided that citizens of Dallas County will have to vote at their designated polling place for their precinct number. You may not be able to vote at the Vote Center closest to work or at the one you are accustomed to using. Go to dallascountyvotes.org, choose Voters, then Vote Centers. There you will find where to vote in either the Democratic or the Republican Primary for Election Day. Make it simple – VOTE EARLY.

If you have not contacted your Congressional representatives and Senators to let them know your views on the SAVE Act, do so now.
The League opposes the Act, which will make it harder for citizens to register and vote.

Our Annual Luncheon is on Friday, February 20, at the Marriott Quorum Hotel on the Dallas Toll Road. Come join us and find some goodies at our Silent Auction.

USPS Changes: Texas Voters, Don't Wait to Mail your Voter Registration or Ballot

🚨 The U.S. Postal Service warns it may not postmark mail the same day it takes possession of it. As of Dec. 24th, 2025, postmarks now reflect when mail is processed, not when it’s dropped off.

⚠️ Why this matters: If you drop your mail-in ballot in a mailbox on Election Day, it may receive a postmark after Election Day and could be rejected!

🗳️ Best ways to protect your vote:

  • Apply for your Vote by Mail ballot ASAP
  • Mail your ballot 7-10 days early
  • Take your ballot to the post office and request a manual postmark
  • Use certified mail to track your ballot
  • Or hand-deliver your ballot to your local elections office with ID on Election Day

🔈 Please share to help others avoid having their vote rejected. Democracy works best when everyone has the information they need to participate!

Our 29th LWV Dallas Annual Luncheon is this week! Find the details about our groundbreaking honorees below, and please consider  becoming a sponsor for this years luncheon.
