Action Alert

 LWVUS has supported and pushed for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) since it was first passed by Congress in 1972. In January of 2020, Virginia became the 38th and final state needed to ratify the ERA. As the ERA has met all requirements to be added to the US Constitution, the League is pushing for it to be officially recognized as the 28th Amendment! Read the full press release here.

Urge President Biden to instruct the US Archivist to certify and publish the ERA in the Constitution! Equality cannot wait.

Wanted: Contributions to the LWVD 2025 Silent Auction

Upcoming Community Event: Fred Rouse Memorial Tour

The Tarrant County Coalition for Peace and Justice is hosting the next Fred Rouse Memorial Tour on Saturday, December 7th from 10am to 1pm. This bus tour will memorialize Mr. Fred Rouse, who was killed in an act of racial terror on December 11, 1921, and retrace the places and events that led to his lynching. 

As part of the tour, Fred Rouse III and TCCPJ members will take participants through key sites related to Fred Rouse's tragic story. Trigger warning - this experience will recount the events leading up to the lynching of Mr. Fred Rouse.
