Dr. Shaneka D. Baylor is an integrative and functional nutrition pharmacist, entrepreneur, and
consultant. She holds Board-Certification in both Geriatric and Ambulatory Care Clinical
Pharmacy and she is also a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Dillard University and her Doctor of
Pharmacy degree from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern
University. She completed her post graduate Pharmacy Practice Residency in Public Health at
the University of Missouri - Kansas City in conjunction with the Kansas City Free Health Clinic
and holds a Master of Science Degree in Nutrition and Wellness from Benedictine University.
Dr. Baylor has worked as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist in collaboration with
Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants to effectively manage and treat
patients with diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and other chronic diseases. While
working closely with her patient population, it became more apparent that nutrition was a big
part of the contributing factor to development and worsening of these chronic diseases. As
someone who understood medications and how they work in the body, Dr. Baylor realized
that it was important that people could create a path to health and wellness while being
monitored properly on their current medications, with the goal of decreasing their
medication burden and increasing their quality of life.
“Healthy eating can be tasty” is the motto that Dr. Baylor believes in. This belief as well as a
desire to serve the senior community led her to become franchise owner of Chefs for Seniors
DFW Mid-Cities South, Chefs for Seniors Fort Worth and Chefs for Seniors Plano, an in-home
meal preparation service that focuses on creating delicious, healthy, nutritious meals that can
be customized to address specific dietary concerns. She is also the Founder and CEO of Baylor
Health and Wellness where she focuses on the total person, providing medication assessments
and integrative and functional nutrition counseling to help clients achieve their health goals.
