2023 Award Winners

We are pleased to announce the 2023 awardees for the Susan B. Anthony Award and the Eleanore Sutherland Award!

Susan B. Anthony Recipient, Carol C. Donovan

Eleanor Sutherland Volunteer Award Recipients, Mark and Lauren Melton

The awards will be presented at our 26th Annual Susan B. Anthony Luncheon, at Lakewood Country Club on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

We have an exciting program planned with Gloria Campos Brown as our emcee and Michael Sorrell will be giving the keynote address.

The theme of the luncheon is “Equal Rights for All” and our honorary chairs for the event are Regina Montoya, Paul Coggins, the Honorable John Carona, and the Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison.

We hope to see you there. Please come at 11 am to visit the auction room, as every year the choices are amazing!

Susan B. Anthony Award Recipient
Carol C. Donovan

For her efforts to obtain equal rights for all:

Helped plan organize, and host the annual Women's Equality Day through the Women's Issues Network
Carol lobbied for Title IX implementation, and she raised funds for women's athletics scholarships.
Carol organized voter registration drives at schools and high-trafficked public offices, such as Dallas County locations of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Eleanor Sutherland Volunteer Award Recipient
Mark & Lauren Melton

For their efforts in obtaining equal rights for individuals facing eviction:

Recognized that less than 3% of tenants have legal representation to appeal an eviction.
Founded the nonprofit Dallas Eviction Advocacy Center which, since 2020, has helped about 10,000 individuals, achieving a 97% success rate.
