Thank you, Members, for the generous support of your time and donations to the League of Women Voters of Dallas!
In appreciation of our volunteers, who worked on five elections in 2022, we have a request – please contribute $25 or more for projects to increase voter turnout.
In May 2023, we will have municipal elections. The turnout rate for the May 2021 election was 9.6% and the May 2019 election was 9.8%. In comparison, the November 2022 election was 44% and the November 2020 election was 66%.

With $5,000 extra in our current budget, we can properly support two projects in 2023:
- Community candidate forums for the May 2023 Dallas City Council elections, and
- Dallas City Charter Reform Initiatives expected to begin this Spring.
The candidate forums require major event planning for multiple locations, working with partners, and investment in community outreach.
The Dallas City Charter Reform efforts are designed to save taxpayer dollars and improve voter participation. Results that have been seen in other Texas cities. We are working with the North Dallas Chamber and others and we will need to invest in reaching out to the electorate.
I hope you agree with me that our organization should be engaged in these projects. As a member of the Dallas League, this is an opportunity for you to make a difference for voters.
May you have an amazing, wonderful holiday season.
Thank you,
Diane Tasian
