The Texas Tribune is sponsoring a series of events focusing on the major policy debates of the 85th Texas Legislature -- and what they mean for one of the state's largest cities and its surrounding communities.

Attend in person or by livestream for the first installment of this series: a conversation about public education, immigration, health care, spending and taxes, and other consequential matters with state Sen. Don Huffines, R-Dallas, and state Rep. Rafael Anchia, D-Dallas, Tribune Co-Founder and CEO Evan Smith will moderate.

Keynote this year is Senator Wendy Davis. Wendy Davis is the founder of Deeds Not Words, an advocacy initiative that empowers millennial women to channel their passion and energy on issues of gender equality into actionable change. She was previously a Texas state senator and candidate for governor of Texas, who fought tirelessly for reproductive rights, equal pay for women, justice for sexual assault survivors, affordable quality education and equality for the LGBTQ community.
